The last time I had the yellow elder hedge cut beside the Gallery was just after Hurricane Omar blew it all down, pretty much a year ago. I asked my wonderful gardener Victor to trim it all down last week , as it was getting way too thick and tall. I was astounded and delighted to see this papaya (pawpaw) tree growing in its midst. I’d love to say that I planted it from seed, and tended to its every botanical need, but it just found a spot it liked and sprung forth on its’ own!
