Waking Jean-Baptiste, born in Haiti and living in France, sent the gallery a very fine group of paintings this summer.  Of particular interest are his “Cabotage” paintings, works depicting the seaside market ships plying the waters of the Haitian coastline.  This one work, “Shimmering Sea” is especially sweet, and reminds me of some of the French Impressionist works of boats, especially Monet’s
